To launch the UK Government’s Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) £100 million investment  in world class test facilities for autonomous vehicles, a promotional video has just been released (link – https://youtu.be/QxYoyXzVCOg)

Much of the video was filmed at RACE, which will play a key role in developing this transformative technology – not least in opening up 10km of roads at the Culham site for testing. As the video clearly shows, safe and reliable multi vehicle testing is already happening at Culham on a daily basis.

In the video, Greg Clark MP, Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy remarks : “The world is on a cusp of a transformation of how we think and experience travel. In the UK we are at the forefront of these changes. Through the Industrial Strategy we are making the UK the ‘go to’ destination for the development of connected and autonomous vehicle technology.”

Rob Buckingham, head of RACE said

“It’s a privilege to be able to host Autonomous Vehicle testing at Culham. We started in a closed area of site and are now regularly seeing vehicles interacting with the 2000 people who work here. We are demonstrating the safety and utility of autonomous vehicles every day.”
